# Versioning and deprecation

> Current REST API support, compatibility, and endpoint migration guidance.

The current REST API base URL is `https://www.rainbrand.com/api/v1`. Rainbrand
supports the endpoints and behavior in the current [API reference](/api/openapi.md)
and live OpenAPI specification.

## Compatibility and migration

Breaking changes are handled per endpoint. Follow its migration guidance for
replacements, compatibility behavior, and any announced retirement date.
[Migration guidance](/guides/migrate-image-generation) describes compatibility
for existing managed image requests.

## Deprecation headers

[`Deprecation`](https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc9745.html) gives the deprecation
date as `@` followed by Unix time in seconds. It does not change endpoint behavior
or set a removal deadline. Follow the `Link` with `rel="deprecation"` for migration
instructions.

[`Sunset`](https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc8594.html) gives a retirement date as
an HTTP date. Rainbrand uses it only after a retirement date is announced.
